Angry………

Last year we watched a sickening and disturbing documentary by Louis Theroux about Westboro Baptist in Topeka, Kansas. They are such a horrible bunch of nutters that i will not even grace them with a link to their website or to the wikipedia page about them! It would be best if you didn’t read more about them, you will be disgusted enough by the following ….

from Fox news: A radical Baptist church in Kansas known for picketing the funerals of soldiers who perished in Iraq said it intends to protest Heath Ledger’s memorial service with signs claiming the actor died and is in Hell because he played a gay character in “Brokeback Mountain.”

Here is their official documentation on this:

This shocking story has been blogged here here and here

p.s. i am not advocating hacking or any such practice but surely there is someone out there who can remove any web presence that Westboro Baptist may have? These people are a disgrace

these are sad and sick people. God will deal with them….it just shows how much further we have to reach out to those who have made poor choices…we need to love them just as much as we love the guy in the pew next to us….and we usually don’t love them either…..

I’ve read quite a bit about the WBC. All they want is publicity.

The more people that get enraged over what they do, the more they get what they want.

Although this will probably never ever happen, I think the most effective way to fight them and their hatred is to ignore them. Completely. Pretend like they don’t exist. Because talking about them and blogging about them, even to disagree, gives them what they want.

Yea, those guys are maniacs… have you heard the stuff they come out with and some of their placards are just obscene… and they use phrases like “Taking it up the TailPipe”.

What worries me is that someday someone will turn round and shoot them… which would add more fuel to their fire… you don’t know how angry they make me too.

The thing is also that they know the bible inside out, so I’ve learned to be wary of people who quote the bible at me for what seems like their own political or personal gains… in fact I read Matthew 6 once and was wondering what Jesus could have meant when he said “Let your yes be yes and your no, no” (I think it’s Matthew 6… it’s somewhere around there!)and I think he may have meant “Do not use the name of God to give authority to what you say, for it is nothing short of Blasphemy”. Here endeth the lesson.

This so called church isn’t even worth the publicity. Sad that they use God to get publicity.

Freedom of speech is a two-edged sword … but you have to live with opinions that you (and most of us) find offensive in order to preserve the ability to protest against something yourself.

Hope you shake the lurgy soon.
