The BBC says……….
“A pilot scheme introducing books dealing with gay issues to children from the ages of four to 11 has just been launched in England’s schools. It is being argued that the books, one of which is a fairytale featuring a prince who turns down three princesses before falling in love and marrying a man, are necessary to make homosexuality seem normal to children. Fourteen schools and one local authority, backed by teaching unions and a government-funded organisation, are running the controversial scheme, which has been attacked by Christian groups……………….”
mmmm “attacked” by Christian groups eh? These days when a ‘Christian’ disagrees or has reservations about anything at all they are “attacking” it!! They are not allowed to put forward their opinions in any way and yes i realise that “some” Christians are rather pushy and often make us all look bad BUT………………..come on, i’ll stick my neck out and say this new “scheme” is a disgraceful load of nonsense! Do you excpect me to believe that a 4 or 5 year old needs to be taught about “Gay issues?” Is this not something that parents should do at home? Is it not ridiculous that every kid should have to be forced to understand “Gay Issues” whether they or their parents like it or not?
Oh but we better not offend the Homosexuals and Lesbians eh? The Political Correctness that we have to adhere to is absolutely nuts………………….as iv stated before on supersimbo, go ahead and be Gay or Lesbian but PLEASE dont expect me to cheer you on or support your lifestyle and NO i reject the claim that this attitude is ‘homophobic’…………..SO, “Gay Issues”………there is only one issue and put simply here it is:
If you do not support Gay rights and all they stand for then your opinion does not count in todays society!
This will not change EVER so as Christians we better get used to everybody else getting their way and “us” being made to look like idiots!!

If you accept that it’s fine to be gay, what’s the problem with a fairytale about a gay prince. The issue is that children are socialised into thinking that homosexuality is different, strange etc something that’s not mainstream.
Rather than viewing the whole incident as a liberal plot to convert kids, they’re simply making the reading curriclum more representative of reality.

Also, I agree with you on people’s portrayal of Christains, tolerance is a non-discrimnatory perspective

i do not accept that its “fine” to be gay!
when i say “go ahead and be gay or lesbian” i am simply affirming each individuals right to be whatever they want to be…………….i do believe that “homosexuality is different” and “something that’s not mainstream.” BUT i also believe its ok to hold this view without being discrimnatory.

Is this not encouraging children to call men in same sex relationships “fairies”?
Surely this is somekind of breach of gay fairy rights!?!

you believe in a definite wrong and right? is it ok as long as it isn’t anything to do with you?
March 13, 2007 at 4:46 pm
i believe in a “definate wrong and right” but i also believe that i CANNOT force my beliefs on anyone about anything……………so whether it has something or nothing to do with me doesn’t really matter.

this reminds me of the flak when they wanted to put Ernie and Bert in the same bed on Sesame Street. They’ve subtly/not so subtly done this kind of thing, successfully so, with Tinky Winky. . the handbag, effeminate voice and gestures. ay yi yi. . . don’t know what to say?
